OUTREACH

at the opera

Piedmont Opera is committed to increasing student access to opera while deepening students’ engagement with the art form. Through our traveling elementary school opera, to our partnership with Crosby Scholars and The Piedmont Youth Chorus, students and educators across North Carolina have the opportunity to experience live opera at little or no cost.

Students receive 50% off our regular ticket prices in sections B-E to all of our main stage performances.

Out of an abundance of caution, we have decided not to host students during "Student Night," our final dress rehearsal.

This season, in response to the ongoing Covid-19 crisis, our traveling opera has adapted the HD Live to continue bringing opera to students and educators, online.

In the future, all tickets for our following student programs can be made by calling the Box Office at 336.725.7101. Student/educator discounts are not online. You must call the office and be prepared to show your student ID when you arrive at the theatre.

Student and Educator Night is the final dress rehearsal for the performance and is an opportunity for students to witness professional opera performances. Student Night is designed for students, teachers and student chaperones only.

It is perfectly acceptable to leave at intermission due to the fact that this is a school night for most children. Groups are highly discouraged from leaving at any other point during the performance as it disturbs other patrons.

Students and educator admission is $5 with an valid ID and $15 for accompanying chaperones

We offer a Student Night Package that includes both of Piedmont Opera’s student night performances and the A.J. Fletcher Opera Institute’s student night at a discounted rate.

Adults cannot exceed the total number of students present per group. Each student and chaperone will be issued an individual ticket with seating assignment in order to enter the theatre. Payment is required at time of ticket purchase. For a discounted subscription for all three operas, call us at 336.725.7101.

Each year, Piedmont Opera and the A.J. Opera Institute travel to schools across North Carolina to give students a taste of opera while teaching important moral lessons. The opera is performed by graduate level students of the A.J. Fletcher Opera Institute of the University of North Carolina School of the Arts.

The cost of this performance is $150 per performance. Contact Piedmont Opera to schedule this event at your school.
