Piedmont Opera celebrates its 50th Anniversary, honoring five decades

of bringing opera to the Greater Triad.

 

November 2026

Hanesbrands Theatre, Winston-Salem

One of the most meaningful and historically significant projects

Piedmont Opera has ever undertaken:

the North Carolina premiere of

Another Sunrise and Before It All Goes Dark.

Originally commissioned by Music of Remembrance,

these two powerful contemporary operas were created by

Grammy Award–winning composer Jake Heggie and

Pulitzer Prize–winning librettist Gene Scheer.

To deepen engagement with their themes of memory, resilience, hope,

and bearing witness to the Holocaust,

we will also host educational opportunities,

and meaningful discussions.
