Our Ensembles – THE COVID EDITION
During this challenging year as we return to choral singing, we have had to make several adjustments to our membership requirements and number of ensembles.
Members of ALL ensembles learn music theory, sight reading, proper vocal technique, choral style, and music with its unique cultural perspective. We read and explore music from other countries and cultures in a variety of languages.
Piedmont Residential Chorus at Home
The residential Chorus at Home will be open to singers 11 years old and younger. RCH will meet virtually once a week with our singers under the age of 12 to help build healthy vocal tone, musicianship skills, and ear training using musical games, canons and folksongs, and repertoire. This program includes the participation and production of virtual choir videos so that our young singers can still be involved and showcased in our performances this season!
The Piedmont Residential Chorus at Home will meet on Mondays from 6:30 – 7:15 PM
The Piedmont Youth Chorus
The Piedmont Youth Chorus is open to singers 12 years old and older who have been fully vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus. The Piedmont Youth Chorus Ensemble performs independently and with other PYC ensembles.
The Piedmont Youth Chorus rehearses on Thursdays from 6:30 pm – 8:30 PM.
Most rehearsals are held at Calvary Moravian Church (600 Holly Ave NW, Winston-Salem, NC 27101), however, there may be mandatory extra rehearsal prior to every major concert depending on the availability of the site. We will inform you as soon as possible which part of the rehearsal each ensemble will attend. Always keep in mind that when we are performing a major work with other groups, we cannot predict exactly how long the rehearsal will be. Site rehearsal times are approximate.
