Piedmont Opera Announces Spring Community Partnership with Open Door Ministries of High Point

Piedmont Opera announced its community partnership with Open Door Ministries of High Point.

The opera company selects a community collaboration with many of its opera productions. The company will present Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro in March at the High Point Theatre. “We are excited to present our first, fully staged opera to the High Point community,” stated Executive Director Connie Quinn. “We are expanding our services to the High Point area, so we looked for a community partner who also was in the business of serving that community. Open Door was the perfect fit.”

The opera is centered around the wedding day of Figaro (the former Barber of Seville) and his fiancé Susanna. The day is full of complications and beautiful, easily recognized music. “We are marketing the show as a modern-day wedding,” stated Mariedith Appanaitis, Director of Marketing at Piedmont Opera. “The couple has a wedding website and is registered for gifts.” All gifts are items needed by Open Doors Ministries of High Point. Piedmont Opera presents Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro on March 22nd at 8 PM and again on March 24th at 2 PM. Tickets start at $25 at PiedmontOpera.org.

Piedmont Opera’s past community partnerships have included working with the Salvation Army to collect shoes for needy individuals during its production of Cinderella. With its production of Ragtime, Piedmont Opera worked with a local organization that highlighted immigrant and refugee populations.
