The Met: Live in HD

MET HD UPDATES

View the series at a cheaper ticket price or stream from home!

Due to declining participation, a costly mandatory satellite upgrade, and more flexible options, Piedmont Opera has decided to discontinue our Met HD broadcast series. However, The Grande in Winston-Salem has resumed broadcasting the series here in Winston-Salem. There are also screens in High Point and in Greensboro. They can offer tickets at a lower rate and will be able to adhere to the Met's schedule. All screenings will be on Saturdays, with special encore presentations of each screening the following Wednesday. The full schedule of presentations is here and tickets are here. There is a senior citizens discount!

The Metropolitan Opera also announced the launch of The Met: Live at Home, a streaming platform that allows audiences to watch the Met's acclaimed series of live simulcasts from any device in the comfort of their homes—the latest effort by the company to reach as broad a public as possible. The program was created for audiences who do not have access to a participating movie theater for the Met's Live in HD cinema transmissions.

Using location services technology and geo-fencing, the streams will be available to opera-lovers and newcomers alike in the United States and Canada who do not live near movie theaters that carry the Met's transmissions. Customer eligibility to purchase is determined by the customer's location. To qualify to purchase the stream, a customer must activate their location services on their PC/Mac/Mobile device. If they live within the designated zone of a participating cinema (which will vary from 15 to 50 miles depending on the region), the customer will be re-directed to the closest participating theater's website to take further action / buy a cinema ticket and will not be allowed to make a purchase of the live stream. If the customer lives outside of the designated zone, they will only be able to go through the purchase path and enjoy the live stream on the day of the event.

In addition to the live stream, each event will be available for seven days following the live event on the same portal; the customer can view on demand or re-watch the stream at a time and day of their choosing if it is within the 7-day window.

Tickets for Live at Home streams are available. The price of the Live at Home transmissions, which include unlimited free viewings during a seven-day window, will be either $10 or $20, depending on the country.
